The Trees

There is unrest in the forest,
There is trouble with the trees,
For the maples want more sunlight
And the oaks ignore their please.

The trouble with the maples,
(And they're quite convinced they're right)
They say the oaks are just too lofty
And they grab up all the light.

But the oaks can't help their feelings
If they like the way they're made.
And they wonder why the maples
Can't be happy in their shade.

There is trouble in the forest,
And the creatures all have fled,
As the maples scream "Oppression!"
And the oaks just shake their heads

So the maples formed a union
And demanded equal rights.
"The oaks are just too greedy;
We will make them give us light."

Now there's no more oak oppression,
For they passed a noble law,
And the trees are all kept equal
By hatchet, axe, and saw.

Los árboles

Hay disturbios en el bosque,
Los árboles tienen un problema
Porque los arces piden más luz
Y los robles ignoran sus suplicas.

El asunto con los arces,
(y ellos están convencidos de tener la razón)
es que dicen que lo robles son demasiado altos
y reciben toda la luz.

Pero los robles no pueden evitar sentir
que las cosas están bien como están
y se preguntan porque los arces
No pueden estar contentos en su sombra.

Hay un conflicto en el bosque,
Y los animales mejor huyen
Porque los arces gritan "¡Nos oprimen!"
Y los robles solo sacuden sus cabezas

Así que los arces se han unido
Para demandar igualdad de derechos
"Los robles son demasiado codiciosos;
Los forzaremos a darnos luz"

Ahora ya no hay mas opresión por parte los robles
Puesto que se ha pasado una noble ley,
Y todos los arboles deben tener el mismo tamaño
Por hacha, sierra y serrucho.
