A day in a life

I read the news today oh boy
About a lucky man who made the grade
And though the news was rather sad
Well I just had to laugh
I saw the photograph
He blew his mind out in a car
He didn't notice that the lights had changed
A crowd of people stood and stared
They'd seen his face before
Nobody was really sure
If he was from the House of Lords.

I saw a film today oh boy
The English Army had just won the war
A crowd of people turned away
but I just had to look
Having read the book
I'd love to turn you on

Woke up, fell out of bed,
Dragged a comb across my head
Found my way downstairs and drank a cup,
And looking up I noticed I was late.
Found my coat and grabbed my hat
Made the bus in seconds flat
Found my way upstairs and had a smoke,
and Somebody spoke and I went into a dream

I read the news today oh boy
Four thousand holes in Blackburn, Lancashire
And though the holes were rather small
They had to count them all
Now they know how many holes it takes to fill the Albert Hall.

Un día en la vida

Leí hoy las noticias, oh chico,
sobre un afortunado que alcanzó su meta,
y aunque la noticia era bastante triste,
bueno, yo me tuve que reír,
vi la fotografía.

Se voló los sesos en un automóvil,
no se dio cuenta que el semáforo había cambiado, una multitud se quedó allí mirando,
habían visto su cara antes.
Nadie estaba realmente seguro  si el era del “House of Lords”.

 Vi una película hoy, oh chico,
el ejército inglés acababa de ganar la guerra.
Una multitud volvió la cara,
pero yo tuve que mirar
habiendo leído un libro. Me encantaría entusiasmarte....

Me desperté, me caí de la cama,
arrastré el peine por mi cabeza,
encontré el camino para bajar las escaleras y me bebí una taza,
y mirando hacia arriba me di cuenta que estaba atrasado.
 
Encontré el abrigo y cogí el sombrero,
llegué al autobús en pocos segundos,
encontré el camino de subida por las escaleras y me fumé uno,
y alguien habló y entré en un sueño.

Escuché hoy las noticias, oh chico,
cuatro mil agujeros en Blackburn  Lancanshire,
y aunque los agujeros eran bastante pequeños, tuvieron que contarlos todos,
ahora saben cuantos agujeros son necesarios para llenar el Albert Hall.
