Poetry for the Poisoned: Part I Incubus

There was a time when I was young
A boy with bold ambitions
There was a time when I could tell the crooked from the wicked one

There was a song that someone sung
A hint of recognition
There was a time I knew you well enough to know you won't be gone

Come with me tonight

Tell me how it feels to be alive

There was a time I had respect
A name, a reputation
There was a time when I could watch myself without being disgraced

Come with me tonight

Let us find a place where we can hide

Come into the light

Let me show you how we stay alive

The word incubus means to lie on,
and it was believed that any having feeling in bed,
such as a weight pressing down on your chest,
especially accompanied by nightmares,
was a sure sign that an incubus had attempted to have a nocturnal intercourse with you.
Given the religious fervor of the middle ages,
there's not all together surprising that the idea of a demon lover,
was believed to account of this phenomenon

Hubo un tiempo cuando era joven
Un chico con audaces ambiciones
Hubo un tiempo en que me di cuenta de lo torcido del malvado

Había una canción que alguien cantaba
Un indicio de reconocimiento
Hubo un tiempo en el que te conocí suficiente para saber que no te irías

Ven conmigo esta noche

Dime que se siente estar vivo

Hubo un tiempo en el que tenia respeto,
Un nombre, una reputacion
Hubo un tiempo en el que se podia ver sin ser desonrado

Encontremos un lugar donde podamos escondernos

Sal a la luz

Dejame enseñarte como mantenerte con vida

La palabra incubo significa que yace sobre,
Y se creia que era cualquier sentimiento en la cama
Como un peso presionando su pecho
Especialmente acompañado de pesadillas
Era una señal de que un incubo intentaba tener una relacion nocturna con usted
Dado el fervor religioso de la edad media
A todos nos sorprende la idea de un demonio amante,
Que fue creido como acontecimiento de este fenómeno.
