Plateau

Many a hand has scaled
the grand old face of the plateau
Some belong to strangers
and some to folks you know
Holy ghosts and talk show hosts
are planted in the sand
To beautify the foothills and shake the many hands

Nothing on the top but a bucket and a mop
And an illustrated book about birds
You see a lot up there but don't be scared
Who needs action when you got words

When you've finished with the mop
then you can stop
And look at what you've done
The plateau's clean, no dirt to be seen
And the work, it was fun

Well the many hands began to scan
around for the next plateau
Some say it was Greenland
and some say Mexico
others decided it was nowhere
except for where they stood
But those were all just guesses,
wouldn't help you if theycould

Maseta

mas de una mano a escalado
el magnífico y viejo rostro de la maseta.
algunas pertenecen a desconocidos
y algunas a amigos que tu conoces.
fantasmas santos y anfitriones de programas de entrevistas
fueron impresas en la arena.
para embellecer las colinas y unir todas las manos.

nada en la cima pero un balde y un lampazo
y un libro ilustrado sobre pájaros
ves un trabajo allí arriba pero no te asustes
quien necesita acción cuando tiene las palabras

cuando hayas terminado con el lampazo
entonces puedes parar
y mirar lo que has hecho
la meseta esta limpia, no hay suciedad que puedas ver
y el trabajo, fue divertido

bueno todas las manos comienzan a buscar
alrededor por la siguiente maseta
algunos dicen que fue Groenlandia
y algunos dicen México.
otros decidieron que no era ningún lugar
salvo donde ellos estaban
pero todas esas eran solo suposiciones,
que no te ayudarían si pudieran.
